Peri Gilpin
Peri Gilpin portrays
Roz Doyle in the top-rated comedy series FRASIER a Grub Street
Production in association with Paramount Network Television for NBC-TV.
Roz is Frasier's (Kelsey Grammer) independent, fast-talking, savvy radio
producer who offers wry outlooks on his callers and his life.
Gilpin feels she was
probably destined to portray a character like Roz on FRASIER because, as
a child, she often accompanied her late father, a nationally-known
broadcaster, to the Dallas radio station where he worked. She also
worked with the late "Wings" producer, Roz Doyle, for whom her
character is named in tribute.
Born on May 27 in
Waco, Texas, Gilpin was raised in Dallas and studied acting at the
Dallas Theatre Center, performing in various stage productions. After
high school, she continued her acting studies at the University of
Texas at Austin and the British-American Academy in London, England.
Returning to the States, Gilpin found work in Dallas as a make-up
artist, but her life-long desire to act motivated her to become an
apprentice at the renowned Williamstown Theatre Festival in
Massachusetts.
Her stage credits
include starring in the off-Broadway production of "Lucky Lucy and
the Fortune Man," the role of Helena in the New Jersey Shakespeare
Festival's production of "A Midsummer Night's Dream" and
numerous regional theatre productions including "The
Crucible," "Hawthorne County" and "The Maderati."
Her additional
television credits include the NBC telefilm, "The Secret She
Carried" opposite D.W. Moffett and Jere Burns, the NBC telefilm
"Fight For Justice: The Nancy Conn Story," and the
"Ethically Yours" episode of Showtime's "The Outer
Limits." She was a regular on Paramount's "Flesh n'
Blood" and has guest starred on such series as Paramount's
"Cheers" and "Wings," "Designing Women"
and "21 Jump Street."
